Muslims relieved Eid holiday to fall day after September 11 anniversary
Eid Al-Adha, one of the holiest Muslim holidays, will begin this year on September 12 – to the relief of many Muslim Americans who anxious it would coincide with the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Aid al-Adha, which involves the sacrifice of an animal, commemorates the submission to God of the prophet Abraham, common to the three great monotheistic religions.
Eid Al Adha comes one day after Muslim pilgrims stand on Mount Arafat in the outskirts of Makkah in western Saudi Arabia as part of their pilgrimage.
Those fears dissipated on Thursday when Saudi Arabian religious authorities announced that the holiday would take place on September 12.
The festival also marks the end of the Hajj, the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, which every Muslim who is physically fit and can afford it, must do at least once in his or her life.
Markazi Ruyat-e-Hilal Committee, Pune and Mumbai in Maharashtra have also declared that Eid al Adha will be on September 13, 2016.
“Moon report is also not received from other parts of India”. Thus, the nation will start celebrating it on September 10 until September 19.
You may not know this, but there are two Eid events in the Islamic calendar.
To be exact, it’s on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, which is the 12th and final month in the Islamic calendar.
“Eidul Adha in India will be celebrated on Tueseday 13th September, 2016”.
The news agency Barq said that Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Turkey, and Japan would celebrate Bakra Eid on September 12. As per this system, the first day of a new month is decided if moon is sighted on 29th day of the preceding month.
On that day the eclipse will occur shortly before the sunset, and the moon will set after the sun shortly not allowing it to be viewed in all regions of the Islamic world.
