Did Lil Wayne retire from rap?
Should Lil Wayne retire from the rap game? “Thk u”, Wayne wrote on Twitter following the incident.
The rapper tweeted: “I am now defenceless and mentally defeated and I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m done”.
Whether he walks away, goes on hiatus, or powers through, Lil Wayne has the support his fellow musicians. Then again, maybe he’s not because the rapper seemed to contradict himself just a few hours later. The tweets inspired fans to think up alternative routes for Wayne, with one bringing up the possibility of Rick Ross swooping in to buy Wayne out of his contract. That didn’t happen though and their feud heated back up rather quickly. Wayne has attempted to sue him several times, not only for interfering with Tha Carter V’s release, but withholding money from him.
In December 2014, the rapper blamed Birdman for the delay in releasing his albums.
Most recently, police were called to Lil Wayne’s Miami mansion over reports that someone had been shot. It’s unclear whether the tweet was directly related to the incident, or if other factors were at play. Celebrating his second annual Lil Weezyana Fest in his hometown of New Orleans, Weezy said he had three words for Birdman and his former friends: f*** Cash Money.
