England ‘keeper Joe Hart arrives in Torino to warm welcome
Joe Hart has completed his season-long loan transfer from Manchester City to Serie A side Torino.
In a statement on the Torino club website on Wednesday, Hart says “the offer from Torino arrived at the right moment, in the right way”.
Hart had been at City 10 years and been at the centre of all their success in recent seasons, including the Premier League title wins of 2012 and 2014.
Torino are rumoured to be paying only a third of Hart’s £120,000-a-week wages, with City picking up the bill for the remainder. It’s a done deal.
However he also said he would not stand in the player’s way and it appears the Frenchman has decided his immediate future lies away from Manchester.
Hart follows a long list of English players in Italy, but is one of the few at the top of his game to move overseas in recent times.
Hart was considered to be amongst the key culprits after making errors against Wales and Iceland, but if he expected to find succour in the comfort of his Premiership club he was wrong.
Cairo said: “Joe Hart is a top global goalkeeper with substantial experience both with Manchester City and with the England national team, in which he even debuted at the age of 21”.
France will face Italy in a friendly on Thursday before beginning their World Cup qualifying campaign in Belarus on Tuesday.
Torino began the new Serie A season with a 3-2 defeat at AC Milan but bounced back by beating Bologna 5-1 at home.
The England global goalkeeper found himself second choice behind Willy Caballero for City’s opening games of 2016-17, but Claudio Bravo’s arrival from Barcelona seemingly demoted Hart to third choice.
Joe Hart does not deserve to play for England if he could not make the cut at Manchester City and will be under more pressure to perform at Torino than he realises, states Neville Southall.
Hart’s debut could come at Atalanta on September 11.
Manchester City cleared most of the dead wood from their squad yesterday, but only at a considerable cost.
“I’m enjoying my football and I am enjoying winning games and I am working hard to continue doing that. I am excited to see the team next week when I start properly”.
“We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success”, said Luiz, a Champions League victor in 2012 at Chelsea. “I knew if I kept working hard I would get my chances”.
