600 marijuana plants found growing behind day care center
He says the plants were 6 to 10 feet tall with an estimated street value of more than $1 million.
State inspectors found more than 600 marijuana plants growing behind a CT day care center, and police say arrests are forthcoming.
The state inspectors were originally called to the house because of poor building conditions. The building has been condemned.
Officers from the street crimes unit of the West Haven Police Department executed several search warrants of the property, and shut down the day care center.
“I saw him building something in the backyard and kind of thought it was just a regular fence”, Torres said. “Not good”, another neighbor, Robson Antoine, said.
It was then that police discovered around 600 plants, some up to three metres tall, and neighbours say they didn’t suspect a thing. “And they have a daycare?” No arrests have been made yet.
Day care owner, Rosalee Miller has operated the facility since 1995 providing care for six children. But police say whoever is responsible could face multiple charges, including risk of injury to a minor and operating a drug factory.
