Heated game of back and forth after Hillary accuses Trump of choking
Trump is referring to a statement Clinton made last week following his last-minute visit with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto in the country’s capital.
“In just a few hours he managed to turn his trip to Mexico into an embarrassing global incident”.
Trump met with the president of Mexico last week.
“Look at the deals she’s made”.
“When you see what he has said and done in this campaign”. He told reporters, “I’ve seen people do so much prep work that when they get out there they can’t speak. Donald Trump does not have the temperament to be our commander-in-chief”. The president of Mexico shot back at Trump on Twitter saying: “I repeat what I told you personally, Mr. Trump: Mexico would never pay for a wall”.
Since the meeting, Trump has clashed with Peña Nieto over whether Mexico will pay for Trump’s proposed wall along the souther border.
Muir asked Trump whether Pena Nieto agreed the issue of the wall would be avoided as a precondition for the meeting, then broke the terms afterward amid intense domestic criticism for not appearing tougher in their press conference. “It was discussed that it wouldn’t be discussed, but they know my stance, and I know their stance”, Trump said. At a rally, she said Trump had “choked” when he failed to discuss who was paying for the wall during his meeting with the Mexican president.
“He didn’t raise it, so he did choke”.
“He didn’t even know how to communicate effectively with a head of state. And I think that’s a pretty clear outcome from that trip”, Hillary said and described Trump’s visit as unfortunate.
He characterised this as a “rookie mistake” by the Republican nominee. “You shouldn’t leave the safety of America and our diplomacy in the hands of a rookie who, on his one visit with a foreign leader, has already created kind of an worldwide embarrassment for us”.
Following Donald Trump’s visit to Mexico, Hillary Clinton told ABC Newsthat she won’t be traveling to Mexico any time before the November 8 election.
The back-and-forth between the candidates and their running mates came during dueling exclusive interviews with ABC News.
