Free agent LB Junior Galette visits Redskins Thursday

We’ve obtained court docs which show Galette was pulled over in his green Mercedes on July 7th – but during the stop, cops say they noticed Junior was driving on a suspended license. To go along with this, a video recently surfaced showing Galette striking a woman with a belt during a brawl on a beach. Some early rain hindered the morning practice, but let up at the midpoint leading to sunshine for the afternoon walkthrough. Galette wore out his welcome with the Saints with reports about a bad attitude and a locker room fight with a teammate. “I thought, look this was a player that’s had a lot of production for us, done a lot of really good things and felt like the arrow was up. It’s unfortunate what happened and we just have to move forward from that”.

General manager Mickey Loomis and head coach Sean Payton kicked off the team’s almost month-long stay at The Greenbrier with their annual press conferences. “We have to make decisions with our eyes going forward so that is what we have done”. Galette may want to visit more teams to try to develop a market for his services.

Rookies Hau’Oli Kikaha and Davis Tull are expected to compete with veteran free agent signing Anthony Spencer for the role of pass rushing outside linebacker.

The Redskins just signed back Ryan Kerrigan and adding a player like Galette would be a huge boost for the defense, which was very inconsistent last season. “I think we’ve done that and we’ll see the results of that this coming season”, Loomis said.

“Obviously, it became a decision about the team”, Payton said. “We were pulling for him as much as anything because he does have a presence and he’s so well respected”.

Aside from the Galette being released, the team released several marquee players, such as Curtis Lofton and Pierre Thomas. Loomis said the Saints were also waiting on possible discipline on Galette from the NFL. Bunkley left on good terms, said Payton who also didn’t rule out bringing back Bunkley when he is fully recovered from a quadriceps injury. “You gotta be careful you don’t start operating on the wrong parts”, Payton said.
