UFC 203: WWE helped CM Punk get eligible for MMA debut
It was almost two years ago that CM Punk officially signed with UFC, leaving behind his career as a professional wrestler. His most recent setback was back surgery he underwent to fix injuries he suffered in WWE. Here are seven things we learned from The Evolution of Punk – Cult of Personality.
CM Punk vs. Mickey Gall takes place at this Saturday’s UFC 203 pay-per-view, which is headlined by Stipe Miocic’s first UFC Heavyweight Championship defense against fellow risky knockout artist Alistair Overeem. “I could go get ice cream with my sisters without being harassed, and that was always my style”.
“I definitely see myself winning and if I had to pick, I’d say TKO”.
Ironically, Punk quit the WWE at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, the same building he will make his UFC debut in.
Looking ahead to the weekend, many eyes will be on Punk’s fight with Mickey Gall. “I’ll keep dancing with that”. His most recent victory was over Mike Jackson, who he finished in just 45 seconds via rear-naked choke.

Many people are interested in seeing CM Punk finally enter the Octagon – including his former peers. But, Punk did say that he’s not anxious about it, and that he will make weight on Friday morning.
