NYC Police: Rapper “Desiigner” Arrested on Gun, Drug Charges
Rapper Desiigner was among five people arrested Thursday night in New York City after a road-rage altercation allegedly involving a weapon and drugs outside the Lincoln Tunnel connecting New Jersey and Manhattan, The Times has confirmed.
According to TMZ, Desiigner and others who were inside an SUV were involved in an exchange with another vehicle.
The incident saw Desiigner – real name Sidney Shelby III – charged with criminal possession of a loaded weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and “menacing”, after he allegedly pointed a gun at the driver of another vehicle. The SUV drove away but not before the other driver took down the license plate number of the vehicle.
Police, who stopped the rapper at East 42nd Street and 3rd Avenue, spotted drugs in the auto which appeared to be Oxycontin.
The 19-year-old was detained in NY on Thursday night (local time) for “menacing” and criminal possession of a loaded weapon and a controlled substance.
Breakthrough hip-hop artist Desiigner could see his time in the limelight cut short after he was arrested on three felony charges. But that was not all, they were also charged criminal possession of drugs with intent to sell. That person called 911 and described Desiigner’s white Range Rover.
