Charleston Southern has 10 starters suspended vs. No. 3 FSU
The Buccaneers are 37.5-point underdogs as an FCS program, but the hard task of taking on the Seminoles might now be impossible as multiple Charleston Southern players announced late Thursday that half the team has been suspended for the game. Two other players will serve their suspensions at a later date. Because of that, players are being given a choice to sit out this weekend’s game against Florida State (a very likely loss that would do no harm) or the next game against a conference opponent (which could later have to be vacated if they won).
Prior to last weekend’s blowout victory, the Buccaneers fell to fellow FCS program North Dakota State 24-17 in overtime on August 27.

Offensive lineman Frank Cirone said the entire offensive line was among those suspended.

The NCAA rulebook is pretty clear regarding the use of money from schools that are supposed to be spent on books.

“CSU is continuing an internal review of possible NCAA rules violations within the athletics program”.
It can be argued, as it has every other time such an overreaction to a citing has taken place that the NCAA has no real interest in overall student success, so long as there’s money involved. “. … after they felt us getting a surge on offense, I mean they swarmed now”. Charleston Southern won the Big South Conference past year and advanced to the quarterfinals in the program’s first-ever FCS playoff appearance.
The Buccaneers, Big South champions last season, bring a 1-1 record into Saturday’s game.
