Device to be launched during Google’s October 4 event?
However, just a few weeks ago, the names of the devices were changed and it was said that Google is set to ditch the old Nexus name and label the new devices as the Pixel and Pixel XL.
New reports came out regarding a new device from Google. Now, new information has surfaced detailing the specifications of the upcoming tablet.
All signs are now pointing to the imminent announcement of the Google Nexus 7 2016 which may be coming soon. The Pixel brand reportedly also includes the purported Nexus 7 (2016) tablet. This is hardly surprising as Google has collaborated with the Chinese tech firm before to manufacture the much-lauded Nexus 6P.
This news gels with last week’s rumours that Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones would be revealed on October 4.
Now, it looks like fans are getting confused as to what the next Nexus Tablet will be called. In a report by The Verge, Google will try to redeem the company’s failure to produce a tablet that will capture the interest of consumers. Could it be the Google Nexus 7?
In addition, the 7-inch tablet is expected to feature an AMOLED Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display. The tablet is expected to get powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor bundled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. If Australian pre-orders open on that date, we’d expect United Kingdom carriers would also follow suit. While Google’s anticipated Android phones are being rumored to go through a change in brand name, no name change is being reported for the tablet. Since the Nexus 6 – which is the Nexus 2016 – is bigger, it will be called Pixel XL. The new 7-inch Huawei tablet may make its debut there as well along with the new 4K-capable Chromecast and the Daydream VR headset. According to reports, Huawei PR shares, “We don’t comment on future products, as a matter of policy”. Assuming the phones have headphone jacks, don’t explode, don’t stray too far from stock Android (at the very least keeping a clean interface), and really just stay away from any other massive blunders, this could be a great year for Google.
