Old Firm reunited: Celtic, Rangers renew rivalry in Scotland
This was the first Old Firm derby in the league since Rangers were punished with demotion to the bottom tier of the Scottish game in 2012 for financial mismanagement.
Rodgers is in the process of rebuilding his reputation having been sacked by Liverpool past year and he will know that a win against their most bitter rivals this weekend will be a great way to endear himself to the Celtic faithful.
It was a ideal day for former Fulham striker Dembele, who joined the Hoops in the summer.
“So, three great goals, a 20-year-old player, you can see he is a big talent and hopefully he has come to a club who can develop that talent”.
Whilst you may not be sitting in the dugout at Celtic Park this weekend, you have the opportunity to play manager with DraftKings and win some of subsequent cash prizes on offer this weekend. We have to go into what’s a good atmosphere, on a good playing surface, and deliver a performance.
Rangers are approaching 5/1 with some bookmakers to win at Parkhead, but Miller said: “If you look through any Old Firm game, I would imagine the home team normally have the edge as bookies’ favourites”. We had no doubts we could win the semi-final and we did it.
Midfielder Andy Halliday replaced Kranjcar for the start of the second half and it was Rangers who came close to levelling when Barrie McKay curled a shot past the far post.
“It’s about us preparing well and being consistent in our preparation, training at the right intensity and quality, which we have been”.
Brown and Barton appeared to exchange words after the second Celtic goal.
“We scored five and maybe could have had two or three more”.
“No, I don’t think so”, he said. He has added a few players.
“We are getting better, the squad is gelling really well and we are in a good place”, Warburton said.
He said: “Moussa could play every week but I have to make the team work”.
Tensions are sure to be high in the Celtic Park stands as the city rivalry resumes on a regular basis this season, with the champions one point ahead of the Ibrox men with a game in hand.
“But we can’t control things away from here, we just look at Rangers”.
