Sophie Pascoe swims to silver in 50m freestyle at 2016 Paralympic Games
Para-Swimmer Sophie Pascoe took no prisoners in the Aquatic Centre today following her silver medal in personal best time yesterday, finishing first in the heats for the Women’s 100m Backstroke S10 and easily gliding through to the Finals in a time of 1:07.23, almost 2sec ahead of the next qualifier.
Pascoe, 23, won silver in the same event in London, part of her haul of three golds and three silvers.
Pascoe’s silver was New Zealand’s 200th Paralympic medal, with McSweeney the country’s 201st, Fisher’s the 202nd and Malone’s the 203rd.

The gold was won by Trinidad and Tobago’s Akeem Stewart, who threw a world record 57.32m, and silver by Canada’s Alister McQueen.
New Zealand has bagged four more medals at the Paralympics, including another gold, with swimmer Mary Fisher highlighting a top day at the Rio Games.
Meanwhile, Paralympic debutant Greg Reid has stormed into the final of the R3 – mixed 10m air rifle prone SH1.
Across at the velodrome, Kate Horan finished sixth in the women’s 500m time trial C4-5.
Four-time Paralympian Michael Johnson finished 5th in the R4 Mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2 event after shooting a 5.8 on his 9th shot.
However, that didn’t last long as the remaining cyclists all posted faster times, Britain’s Kadeena Cox claiming gold in 34.598.
Earlier today 19-year-old sprinter Jacob Phillips finished eighth in the men’s T35 100m final.
