Fey, Poehler share creative arts Emmy gold as ‘SNL’ hosts
Among the winners who walked away with an Emmy for the first time was the long overdue Amy Poehler!
Popular fantasy drama TV series “Game Of Thrones” has bagged nine Creative Arts Emmys which focus primarily on key technical disciplines and behind-the-scenes crafts of television production.
There’s not a lot of history to be made at most modern award shows, yet the dynamic duo of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have done just that.
The larger Emmy awards will take place on Sunday, September 18, so what other first-timers might take home gold? Peter Scolari also won for his guest appearance on HBO’s Girls; Scolari was a late addition to the category after Peter MacNicol’s Veep nomination was unexpectedly rescinded. And tonight, he was recognized as best actor in a drama series for his stint on the gritty Showtime series Ray Donovan.
Diane Warren won the Emmy for best original music and lyrics for “Til It Happens to You”, Lady Gaga’s song from the documentary “The Hunting Ground”, about campus rape.
The song was nominated but didn’t win earlier this year at the Oscars, marking Warren’s eighth loss at the Academy Awards.
– Commercial: “Love Has No Labels”, Ad Council.
“Mr Robot” picked up its first Emmy with the music composition win for composer Mac Quayle. Game of Thrones has broken another record.
Crime anthology series “People V OJ Simpson” came away from the ceremony at the Microsoft Theater with four wins, including casting, hairstyling, editing and sound mixing.
– Special visual effects in a supporting role: “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride”, PBS.
