WWE Backlash 2016 Results

With every title on the the line, including the brand new Tag Team and Women’s Championships, Backlash was actually shaping up to be a solid event, even before the first bell rang. Your new WWE World Champion is the Face that Runs the Place, the Phenomenal One, AJ Styles.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Tournament Match: The Usos vs. We’ve seen Punk and Ziggler work against one another countless times, yet it didn’t feel like we were watching a rerun. The women’s title will go to who turns out to be the victor in the 6-pack elimination match today.

This is pretty deceiving by WWE as Orton vs. Wyatt is a top draw for Backlash and WWE is still advertising the match knowing that it’s probably not going to happen.

Part of the reason why WWE has made Styles a featured attraction is because he over delivers in the ring and Backlash was another example of that.

Slater has been fighting to gain a WWE contract, with only clinching the new WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship belts enough to keep him in a job. After a free agent storyline that went on for almost two months, he has joined a brand. However, the clear top wrestler in the Women’s division of Smackdown is Becky Lynch.

Gavin Jasper wouldn’t mind if instead of a match, Miz just spends 20 minutes yelling at Daniel Bryan. We’ll have more on this later when we post the WrestleTalk News. Rhyno gored Jimmy, placed Slater on the fallen Uso, and got the pin. There is a ton of talent in this match, and the fact that it’s an elimination format means we’ll get a chance to see it all on display.

Moreover, Randy Orton has got a match against Bray Wyatt at Backlash 2016. At Backlash, one woman will make that history and, at Backlash, all six women in the Women’s Six Pack Elimination Challenge all have something to prove as Becky Lynch, Natalya, Carmella, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, & Nikki Bella will all compete with the victor being crowned the first ever SmackDown Women’s Champion. That also allows The Usos to immediatley begin a feud with American Alpha for the No. 1 contendership.

Dolph Ziggler kicks out of a roll-up, and Maryse sprays something into the eyes of Dolph Ziggler, giving The Miz the opportunity to hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win. This is arguably the most momentum he’s had since he was WWE Champion, and they have yet to follow up on what he did with Bryan in any meaningful way.

The rivalry between Baron Corbin and Kalisto has been built up since before the brand split and in terms of storyline, the two were supposed to have a match at SummerSlam. The Hype Bros will take on Heath Slater and Rhyno.

Also, Gail Kim, a five-time Knockouts champion, will be the first female to be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame.

However in recent weeks in the absence of the suspended Eva Marie, the remaining six women have proven themselves to be interesting and any one of them could become the first ever Women’s Champion on the blue brand.

Capitalizing on the defending champion inadvertently backing off referee Mike Chioda, Styles low-blowed Ambrose before setting him up for the Styles Clash for the three count. Wyatt took Orton out of the match earlier in the night and Orton retaliated by costing him his match.
