TiVo debuts its newest DVR, the 4K-ready BOLT+ with 6 tuners
The new DVR box, unveiled today at CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association) Expo in Dallas, Texas, is one-upping its predecessor with a super spacious 3TB hard drive, ludicrous six tuners and a new price tag of $499.
The additional tuners and storage bring the new Bolt in line with TiVo’s Roamio Pro, which also offered the ability to record six programs at once onto the DVR’s 3TB of storage.
“With the TiVo Bolt+, our goal is to deliver the best DVR ever sold to consumers and continue to deliver a product with features that provide great value for our resell partners”.
TiVo says it can replace expensive matrix switchers that some multi-room home entertainment systems require. The Bolt Plus acts as a client for the Plex home theater server, meaning you can stream from your own local video and music collection, too. The BOLT+ is similar in a lot of ways to the original BOLT, offering up support for 4K resolutions and features like QuickMode and SkipMode, but with this latest release, TiVo is stepping up its game a little bit.
– SkipMode: Skip commercial breaks of recorded shows with the press of a single button.
– OnePass™: Consolidate all episodes of favorite shows via cable, and internet video services such as Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Instant Video, 2 creating a universal watchlist across all providers.
Also like BOLT, the new BOLT+ lets you watch live TV and recorded shows remotely using either a smartphone or tablet in the home when you’re on the same network. The company will be demonstrating the TiVo Bolt+ at CEDIA 2016, which runs from September 13-17 in Dallas. Both of these were available in the first Bolt.
