Lochte feels ‘hurt’ after ‘Dancing with the Stars’ incident
After the incident, Lochte told ABC News that he was going to “brush it off, and keep going”. As host Tom Bergeron abruptly threw to commercial break, we saw a shaken Burke and Lochte unsure of what just happened.
Throughout the brief incident, the camera stayed focused on judge Carrie Ann Inaba, who yelled “Excuse me!” multiple times as clamor rose in the audience and onstage.
Lochte was standing on stage next to his partner, professional dancer Cheryl Burke, after their performance as judges were critiquing their moves when two men ran onto the stage in protest, according to an ABC affiliate in Los Angeles. An image taken outside the studio after the disruption showed two men wearing T-shirts with the word Lochte written across them and crossed out.
“We had to go to break because we had a little incident”, Bergeron said. Are you OK, you guys?
Inaba is head to say: “Excuse me, excuse me”.
He then asked Lochte, “When there’s that kind of strong emotion, what does that make you feel?”
The Olympic swimmer said he felt “a little hurt” after the two men in anti-Lochte T-shirts rushed the stage during the live broadcast, prompting producers to cut to commercial.
“I came out here and I wanted to do something I was completely uncomfortable with, and I did”, he said.
“We are nothing if not a country of second acts and second chances”, Bergeron assured him.
Ryan Lochte was set to hear his scores from the judges on his first night on Dancing with the Stars when there was a commotion off-stage.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said Monday that she’s feeling better since falling ill at a 9/11 memorial ceremony, but she never lost consciousness and didn’t think her pneumonia diagnosis was.
If you’ve been watching the Dancing with the Stars premiere, then you know that there has been some big standouts. And he’s just here working his butt off, and trying to do what he’s supposed to be doing – which is dancing. I gave it my all.
