Sharif Dedicates Eid ul Azha to ‘Sacrifices’ of Kashmiris
The Pakistan prime minister who offered Eid prayer along with other family members in the mosque at his Raiwind residence here, said, “Kashmiri people have sacrificed their third generation in their struggle to get freedom from India”.
Greeting the nation on Eid-ul-Azha, President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the people to join the efforts of armed forces and law enforcement agencies for elimination of terrorism and revival of peace to pave way for peace and prosperity.
The celebration begins with Eid congregations all over the country followed by sacrifice of cattle heads in the name of Allah. Main Eid congregation was held at Markazi Eid-Gah Masjid Khadem-e-Harmain Shareefain in Muzaffarabad.
Five Eid congregations will also be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 7:00am, 8:00am, 9:00am, 10:00am and 10:45 am.
Police have also made elaborate security arrangements and thousands of policemen will be deployed to safeguard places of worship and important places during the three day festivities.
Animal sacrifices are also performed as a ritual to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God.
State-run Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private TV channels will air special programmes on the occasion. Newspapers have already published special supplements on the occasion, reports BSS.
Two city corporations – Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) – arranged over 400 Eid congregations in the capital city. On the day, improved diets were served at hospitals, prisons, orphanages, safe homes and shelter centers. Of those, DSCC organised 228 congregations and DNCC 180.
Muslims in the capital city and elsewhere across the country started celebrating Eid-ul-Azha, their second largest religious festival, amid rains on Tuesday morning.
The national flag will be hoisted atop government and non-government office buildings on the day.
The rains may also intensify in the afternoon.
The premier said, “In fact, if we dedicate our spirit of selflessness and sacrifice to the right objectives, then harmony, tolerance, love, patience and moderation will become part of our daily life. and our society will turn into an Islamic society in true meanings”.
