Ronaldo cannot wait for ‘special’ Sporting match
In La Liga each game is so important because of the dominance of Madrid and Barcelona.
However, it is clear that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to stay with Real Madrid and he wants to be there for the rest of his career.
“It’s a special match, it’s a special team. I wanted to draw Sporting again because I think they have a good team, they have a good coach (Jorge Jesus) and it will be another special moment in my life”.
Xavi, who is now plying his trade with Qatari football club Al Sadd after making a move from the Spanish giants following the 2014/15 La Liga season, opined his former Barcelona teammate would be the number one until he stopped playing. “Now I need to play”.
Ronaldo scored the victor for United against Sporting in 2007, but has never faced the Portuguese side in a Madrid jersey.
A cliché perhaps but we’ll take it a match at a time, then round at a time. “He represents a lot for us and it would be handsome if he could end his career here”, he said. He is a world ambassador. “He always speaks well of us and his love for us”.
Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has been cautious over rushing Ronaldo back, though, and refused to confirm his star man will play 90 minutes after lasting just over an hour at the weekend.
Ronaldo’s tap-in was a nice way to crown Gareth Bale’s selfless play, and it opened the doors for his team to net four more goals and put the game to bed. “It’s going to be handsome”.
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has admitted that winning the league title is their priority this season.
Sporting CP is seen as an underdog in this group, with Borussia Dortmund and Madrid likely the favorites to finish in the top two spots of Group F. There has been no official statement or announcement from the club following Ronaldo’s statements.
Sporting are top of Portugal’s Primeira Liga after winning their fourth consecutive game of the season on Saturday, easing to a 3-0 victory over Moreirense. Ronaldo’s game came to a premature end midway through the second half as he made way for Karim Benzema, but Zidane confirmed the change was merely precautionary, adding that the forward’s game-time would have to be managed correctly.
