Chelsea captain John Terry ruled out for 10 days
There is a huge clash in the Premier League this Friday night as Chelsea take on Liverpool.
Chelsea have been dealt a huge injury blow after skipper John Terry confirmed on Instagram that he’s been ruled out of Friday’s Liverpool game with a foot injury.
Today, the centre-back underwent a scan to learn the extent of the damage, and according to talkSPORT, there are no concerns of a serious problem.
After the Swansea match Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte admitted he did not yet know how serious Terry’s injury was and that his captain would be assessed, adding: “He is a warrior”.
There were worries that Terry had fractured his ankle, but Tuesday’s scan showed a significantly less severe injury.
It means he will be unavailable for Friday’s match against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, where David Luiz could now make his first appearance since the Brazilian’s surprise return to Chelsea from Paris St-Germain.
Liverpool thrashed Premier League champions Leicester City 4-1 at Anfield on Saturday, however the Reds have continued to concede goals, even resorting to fielding midfielder James Milner as a left-back.
He said of Luiz and fellow signing Marco Alonso: “I think we have improved our squad”.
“Absolutely gutted, but will be giving everything to get back playing”.
