Dove Cameron on bullies and ‘Descendants’

Made for kids, tweens and families, the movie premieres TONIGHT, JULY 31 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.

Dove shared an honest answer that most people who deal with bullies don’t usually think about – she explained that getting upset and feeling down about yourself is never the answer, and you have to consider that your bully must be suffering themselves! It is directed and choreographed by Emmy Award-winning Kenny Ortega (Newsies, Hocus Pocus, High School Musical franchise).

Her song in “Descendants”, called “Evil Like Me” takes place during a scene where Chenoweth warns her daughter about inheriting her own evil thrown. Here’s a note from the Disney Channel: “Descendants writer Josann McGibbon loves the cooking baking scene, because it shows the villain kid’s vulnerability“.

Other cast members include Cameron Boyce as Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil from “101 Dalmatians“; Sofia Carson as Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen from “Snow White“; and Booboo Stewart as Jay, son of Jafar from “Aladdin”.

It just so happened that Maleficent was also Cameron’s favourite Disney villain growing up. The series is one of Disney’s most popular franchises, beginning with a TV film in 2006 and ending with a theatrical release in 2008.
