Apple assures users iOS 10 update is safe after iPhone ‘bricking’ issues
People installing iOS 10 posted screenshots of their devices, saying the hardware was rendered useless – or ” bricked” – after installing the latest version of Apple’s operating system.
According to a growing number of iPhone owners on Twitter, the new iOS 10 update might be worth waiting on. Connecting it to the computer brings up another error window that says, “There is a problem with the iPhone “iPhone” that requires it to be updated or restored”.
However the issue appears to be limited to the over-the-air update.
“We experienced a brief issue with the software update process, affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability”, Apple told Digital Trends. The problem was quickly resolved and we apologize to those customers.
It advised anyone experiencing problems to connect their device to iTunes to complete the installation of the new software. It’s also advisable to err on the side of caution and update to iOS 10 via iTunes or to simply wait a day.
