Manchester United launch retro adidas kit following their £750m deal
Partnering up with Adidas, Manchester United will be donning some new home kits, and on Friday, we were able to get our first look at the new threads Man U will be sporting.
Richard Arnold, group managing director at United, said that “everyone at Manchester United is very proud of the shirt’s classic design”, while “Manchester United and adidas have a long and illustrious history in football, both leading the way in innovation and performance.”
United wore Nike for the last time in Chicago, having signed a world record £750m kit deal with Adidas past year.
“At adidas we have been on a real journey in creating these new kits for Manchester United”.
In just hours, the deal with Nike officially ends and the new deal with Adidas kit begins. The kit, under the motto “Breaking Expectations”, went on sale at selected locations in Manchester and London at midnight, and was launched by Daley Blind and Phil Jones.
The new kit, which takes inspiration from the classic three-stripe United kits from the 1980’s, features a V-neck collar and a similar three-stripe design down the shoulder.
Indeed, the devil really is in the details. Designed to break expectations.
