Apple’s iOS 10 update is causing major headaches for some users
Users who experienced a failed update were required to plug devices into computers and connect to iTunes to restore the system.
iOS 10, Apple’s latest mobile operating system software for iPad and iPhone, is now available for download.
Apple has confirmed that there is a brief issue with the software update process which is affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability, but it claims that this problem has already been fixed.
Anyways! Hopefully all should be well now, and if your phone was bricked, at least it’s temporary.
There were, however, no reports of people getting the same problem from updating their iOS versions with the iTunes method, though it was a bit slower than the usual OTA approach. While you’re probably going to want to set aside some time for playing around with the new software, these are (just about) all the additional tricks that iOS has learned in the past year. Before you download, it’s also a good practice to make sure your device is backed up. With the update to WatchOS 3, you can create or adjust watch faces from the Watch app instead of the Apple Watch itself.
Wait for your device to enter into recovery mode, with it then prompting you to connect it to iTunes.
The major changes brought by the iOS 10 are most visible in the Apple Music redesign, Photos App, Messages, and Home App to name a few.
Numerous unfortunate users received an “Error 56” message that prompted them to plug the device into iTunes, but this action nor rebooting is found to reverse the glitch. This is also how you can disable these effects if you find them annoying. In iTunes, select your device, then click on Summary. It remains to be see when these are launched for iOS as well. It means you no longer have to sift through several screens to forward images and videos to your contact.
CNET advises holding off for now on phones older than the iPhone 6 since their processors may be more likely to suffer performance issues.
