Judge Finds Nick Gordon ‘Legally Responsible’ for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Death
The $50 million dollar lawsuit that was filed in November 2015 by the family of Bobbi Kristina was joined by Bobby Kristina’s father, Bobby Brown in May.
“In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown”, Brown’s estate attorney R. David Ware said outside court.
“The suit claims that “(Gordon)’s violent attack on Bobbi Kristina and associated reckless and toxic cocktail caused her to sustain a profound brain injury, which ultimately caused her death”.
“And we intend to do that”. The lawyer specifically cited Gordon’s sit-down with daytime TV host Dr. Phil McGraw as evidence of his lack of sincerity and interest in the case.
It is now up to the jury to decide how much of a settlement to give the Brown estate.
People who face the possibility of criminal charges can find it tough to defend themselves in a civil case because, if they assert their right not to incriminate themselves, it can be interpreted as an admission of liability, Pate said. But on behalf of the estate, we’re going to demonstrate to the jury, the value of her life. The combination caused pneumonia, which lead to her death.
The lawyer added, “It’s not a criminal case but it doesn’t have to be”.
Bobbi Kristina, the only daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston, passed away at the age of 22 on July 26, 2015. Gordon has denied the allegations and said he tried to save Brown’s life.
The results of her autopsy showed the cause of her death was immersion in water and drug intoxication. “Afterward he got in bed, and (lay) his head on female guest’s ankle and stated, ‘Now I want a pretty little white girl like you'”. The daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was found face down in her bathtub by Gordon and her friend Max Lomas on January 31, 2015, according to local police. The world was transfixed by the tragic tale, as Brown’s end mirrored her mother’s haunting death in February 2012, when the singer drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
