1 of 2 Texas cops hurt in attack out of hospital
Two officers in Texas have been wounded, one in critical condition, in a shootout that was erupted while responding to a suicide attempt.
The shooting happened in a neighborhood near I-20 and Granbury Road Friday night around 8:30 p.m.at a home.
They arrived to find a person unresponsive with a gunshot wound, and were told that a witness was in a backyard shed, so they tried to make contact with that person.
CBS Philly reports the suspect was shot and killed, and police continue to search for a possible second suspect.
The officers were able to return fire.
According to officials, one officer was hospitalized and one was on their way to the hospital. Both officers were transported to a hospital and were reported to be in stable condition early Saturday morning. Fort Worth Police records show officers have been called to that home multiple times for domestic disturbances involving a father and son.
Zavadsky said Fort Worth officers carried their fallen comrades from the shed to a nearby area, where the two paramedics treated them before taking them to JPS.
Both of the officers were taken to John Peter Smith Hospital. Just before midnight Fort Worth police confirmed that the person was found deceased inside the shed.
We appreciate all the well-wishes for our officers. He came out of surgery late Friday night and is expected to recover.
Two weeks later, Pearce was shot and was hospitalized for two months.
