Clinton Aide Smashed Hillary’s Old Phones-With a Hammer — FBI Files
U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told the Federal Bureau of Investigation she did not recall all of the briefings she received on handling sensitive information as she made the transition from her post as secretary of state, due to a concussion she suffered in 2012, according to a report released Friday.
“Hillary Clinton’s private email server was a reckless attempt to avoid accountability”, Matt Moore told The Associated Press on Friday. A prior review by the State Department’s internal watchdog concluded that the practice violated several polices for the safekeeping and preservation of federal records.
Journalists and onlookers watch live television as FBI Director James Comey speaks about U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while U.S. Secretary of State, in Charlotte, North Carolina July 5, 2016. She also said she could not remember a cable that was sent to all State Department employees under her name in June 2011, advising them not use to private email for work.
He also questioned why the FBI’s interviews were not recorded.
Mrs Clinton has claimed that her use of private email was allowed. Pagliano secured an immunity agreement from the Justice Department after previously refusing to testify before Congress, invoking his constitutional right against self-incrimination.
Investigators obtained three of the iPads, one of which had e- mails from her personal account.
The transcript notes Mrs Clinton received phishing emails, including one containing a malicious link, purportedly sent from the personal account of a State Department official.
Questions over Mrs Clinton’s use of a private server have dogged her presidential campaign on the trail over the previous year. In a section on her treatment of certain sensitive emails, for instance, it says, “Clinton was not aware how other State staff maintained their records and was unaware of State’s State Messaging and Archive Retrieval Toolset (SMART)”.
Clinton told investigators during her July 2 interview she did not recall ever receiving training or guidance on handling classified information during her time as secretary of state and relied on aides’ judgment on what should and should not be transmitted via email.
The specialist then used a program known as BleachBit to delete an unknown number of emails, according to the report.
He said he planned to seek answers from Clinton about the deletions.
“These documents demonstrate Hillary Clinton’s reckless and downright risky handling of classified information during her tenure as Secretary of State”, Ryan said in a statement. “There’s no wiggle room”.
After her use of a private email system became public knowledge in March 2015, Clinton repeatedly said she did not use it to send or receive classified information.
The report shed light on how Mrs Clinton viewed her understanding of the handling of classified information. She asked interviewing agents what the marking meant and saying it might have referenced paragraphs marked in alphabetical order. “CLINTON believed the email amounted to “condolence call” and questioned the classification level”.
Meanwhile, the State Department has been ordered to review for possible release almost 15,000 additional emails and documents uncovered during the FBI investigation that had not been disclosed by her lawyers.
Mrs. Clinton said she was “not concerned” about sending classified emails.
An FBI document states forensic analysis found that the email of one of former President Bill Clinton’s staffers was compromised on January, 5, 2013, while Hillary was still serving as secretary of state.
The FBI also noted that while it found no breach had been found in the former Secretary of State’s email service, it could not be completely ruled out as it was unable to acquire all devices that Clinton used during her tenure.
