Hillary Clinton congratulates ‘SNL’ star Kate McKinnon on Emmy
The Democratic nominee for president heard her words and offered her congratulations on Twitter, complete with a GIF of McKinnon as Clinton.
Hillary Clinton is not ready for prime time – but Kate McKinnon is.
Our amusing girl from years back, Kate McKinnon, has now sealed the deal with another one of our beloved ladies, Emmy. “Big fan of yours, too”, Clinton wrote after the actress accepted her award. In her acceptance speech, a breathless McKinnon gave a shoutout to two groundbreaking women. “Thank you to the Academy, so much”.
“On a personal note, thank you to my handsome and hilarious mother and sister”, she said.
Saturday Night Live’s Kate McKinnon has us crying with laughter on our couches weekly, but she had us in tears for different reasons at Sunday’s Emmy Awards. You know, it’s really hard making 90 minutes of sketch comedy every week for 42 years.
McKinnon also thanked her father, who made her watch SNL in the first place, and Lorne Michaels, the show’s creator.
“On a personal note, thank you to my attractive and hilarious mother and sister and my father, who’s not with us anymore”, she added. The star noted how her beloved dad had her watching SNL at age twelve. “Thank you and I miss you, Pop”.
