Kate Moss launches her own talent agency ‘to create stars’
“I want people that want to sing and dance and act”.
With one of the fashion industry’s most memorable careers, dozens and dozens of Vogue covers, controversial campaigns with brands like Calvin Klein, and a net worth of approximately $75 million, what more could a girl want?
It’s a grown-up thing. And it turns out the movie Gia even gave her some inspiration for this next chapter in her life, “You know that film Gia?”
“It’s a dream! It’s so weird,”she told Business of Fashion of her newfound venture”.
Moss’s agency will focus on talent and not just modeling. Earlier this year, when Moss left Storm Models-the agency that discovered her 27 years ago-she quietly began assembling the infrastructure for her business with the help of Lucy Baxter, her longtime booking agent.
Harper’s Bazaar reported that Moss said, “I felt like I wanted to do things that were more than modeling”.
She went on: “It was like leaving home”. It’s called the Kate Moss Agency.
“For them [the brands] I think it was still about money, whereas I’d rather do something I was really proud of as a product rather than the ka-ching”, Kate said.
Meanwhile, Kate previously revealed she wants to open a nightclub in London. You’re not associated with the brand, you’re just the face-of. “The modelling world has traditionally been run by long time agencies and there have been some other boutique agencies in recent years that can offer a more bespoke service to young people”.
She was first spotted at the age of 14 at JFK airport in NY by Sarah Doukas, Storm’s founder and since then has appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine more times than any other model.
So, what should we expect to see from Moss and her agency in the foreseen future?
