John Deere Classic moves to August due to scheduling conflict with Olympics
Peterson also noted that many players who might not otherwise put the John Deere Classic on their schedule could do so because of the date change, assuming they are among a large group of players not participating in the Olympics.
The CareerBuilder Challenge, formerly the Humana, is adding PGA WEST’s Stadium Course and Nicklaus Tournament Course to its three-course rotation while other significant moves see the McGladrey Classic moving from late October to November 16-22, the final week before the winter break.
“Tournament officials said this is “a one-time shift” and “[in] 2017 and beyond, the John Deere Classic will return to its normal early-July dates” which are the week before the British Open. “And next summer the rest of the world will have a chance to get to know him, too”. GAINESVILLE, Va. – Next summer promises to be a busy one for the top golfers in the world, as the schedule is shuffled to accommodate golf returning to the Olympic Games while trying to work around major championships. Bubba Watson, now No 3, won the Travelers.
Dates for the remaining majors include: U.S. Open (June 13-19), British Open (July 11-17) and PGA Championship (July 25-31).
The event on Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course falls between the World Golf Championships series’ Cadillac Championship at Doral and the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando.

Tiger Woods, termed “delusional” two weeks ago by ESPN analyst Paul Azinger for not recognizing the state of his game, apparently has no illusions about whether he’ll make the 2016 U.S. Olympic team.
The Greenbrier Classic will be played July 7-10, the week before the British Open and the JDC’s spot the past 12 years.

“We’re looking at this as one in four (years)”.
Last year, Congressional’s members voted to host the tournament every two years in 2016, 2018 and 2020 after hosting it annually from 2007 to 2009 and from 2012 to 2014.
Peterson said there is nothing in the tournament’s contractual agreement with the PGA Tour that specifies calendar dates in advance.
