Canadian Tatiana Maslany wins Emmy for best lead actress in a drama
Tatiana picked up the lead actress trophy on her second nomination for BBC America’s Orphan Black. But her real breakthrough came six years later, with a starring role in the Sundance darling, “Grown Up Movie Star”.
We have seen hard roles to play but have we ever seen another actor play six characters in the frame where she is probably the only person?
“When people say we need to import talent to succeed, Tatiana’s win is proof that the talent is here”.
Orphan Black is an often overlooked show carried nearly entirely by the unbelievably talented Tatiana Maslany, who plays seven different roles at once.
Emmy victor Tatiana Maslany isn’t as well known as the competition she bested for lead actress in a drama honors including Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson. “There is an vast joy in getting to tell women’s stories that we don’t normally see”, she said.
Playing more characters on a regular basis than anyone else on television, Tatiana earned this one with four seasons of seamless performances.

“I was watching at home and I absolutely was just screaming and so proud of her”.
“We’re a smaller show and it’s really incredible it’s happened at the end of season 4”.
“GAHHH! (Tatiana Maslany) WON AND I’M LIKE”, wrote Oscar victor Brie Larson, using crying face emojis to punctuate the tweet.
“The response after the first season was so much positivity in terms of representation and the way that young girls were seeing themselves portrayed on screen”, Maslany said.
“I got to work with fantastic actors and directors and that stuff just opens your mind”.
“She has a unique opportunity, but she’s got the stuff to make it work”.
She went on to thank the show’s creators for her “dream job”, before paying tribute to the “incredible writers’ room, lovely cast and crew”.
