Dr. Seuss back in stores with newly discovered children’s book
For the first time in 25 years, a new Dr. Seuss book has entered the bedtime story rotation.
Random House Children’s Books has published the book.
NBC crews for “The Today Show” film children during a reading of ‘What Pet Should I Get?’ at UC San Diego’s Geisel Library July 23.
Geisel, who began publishing books as Dr. Seuss in 1931, wrote and illustrated more than 45 books, including “The Cat in the Hat”, “Green Eggs and Ham” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas“, before his death at the age of 87. The manuscript for “What Pet Should I Get?” was discovered in 2013 in a box of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author’s notes and sketches.
The author’s friend and biographer Judith Morgan said “What Pet Should I Get?” was pulled out of what Geisel called his “bone pile”.
There is good news for children as a new book by Dr. Seuss has been launched on Tuesday.
For example, in “One Fish Two Fish”, the children have a Gox, a Gack, and a Wump with one hump.
In general, Pease said, the world that Seuss created didn’t have race or class distinctions but instead celebrated differences.
Claudia Prescott, who worked as a personal assistant to the Geisels through the years, said that Dr. Seuss often created works as notes in order to create other works.
Prescott says there are more sketches, and ideas for books out there.
