The Weeknd just announced a new album, ‘STARBOY,’ with awesome cover art
The Weeknd has announced his follow up to last year’s stellar Beauty Behind The Madness, sharing the first details about his new album, entitled Starboy.
Shot by Nabil, the cover art for Starboy conveys a stark image of The Weeknd behind a red background.
The cover hints the singer could be backing away from the gothic imagery of his most recent hit release, “Beauty Behind the Madness”, in favour of a look that evokes the stylings of Quentin Tarantino movie posters. He has had short hair before, and fans are wondering if his return to a cropped look means a change in sound as well.
The Weeknd is switching up his signature hairstyle ahead of his new album. So you can expect not to see anymore of those pineapple memes on social media. He revealed the record was entirely written in Los Angeles and will draw from “new inspirations”. “The Smiths, Bad Brains, Talking Heads, Prince, and DeBarge play roles”. “Starboy” will be the followup to his hugely successful debut album “Beauty Behind the Madness” released a year ago. “I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced”, he added. That album debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has since been certified platinum. We’re sure fans can’t wait to see what Abel has in stores.
