2 days after attack, Pakistan fires at Indian posts in Uri
One Indian soldier was killed in the fighting.
Indian Army neutralises 10 terrorists on the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri on Tuesday while they were trying to sneak inside. “Unfortunately we have lost one soldier there”, Col Manish Kumar said, adding there was no information about any other casualties.
Army has refrained from making any comment on the number of terrorists killed during its operations to neutralise the infiltration attempts as the operations are still going on.
But this half-truth and not owning up the crimes committed against Indians in India would remain as Sharif’s abject failure to rise above the military industrial complex in his country that is chipping away at the foundations of the sham democracy that is Pakistan.
“It needs to be understood that the situation in [Kashmir] is not of Pakistan’s making but a direct outcome of illegal Indian occupation and a long history of atrocities that has resulted in over a 100,000 deaths”. An Indian army spokesman made this claim just days after a deadly raid on a military base in the territory.
According to an official in Srinagar, the firing from across the border lasted half an hour from 1:10pm.
Among the other countries whose statements against the Uri terror attack Swarup tweeted on Tuesday include Japan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Canada, Mongolia and South Korea.
The sources said that there could be four to five militants hiding in the area. Unconfirmed reports spoke of loud explosions of mortar shells accompanied by small arms fire in the area.
And Pakistan said it would not succumb to the “threats” by India and would continue to support Kashmiris’ struggle for self-determination. The trial was successful and some more rounds of test are expected to be conducted shortly, the official said.
In a diplomatic move to corner Pakistan, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swarajis likely to raise the issue at the United Nation General Assembly in her speech on September 26. The UNGA session provides a great opportunity to champion the cause of Kashmiris, who are groaning under a reign of terror unleashed by New Delhi.
In his final address as the United Nations chief to the opening session of the General Debate here, Ban touched upon a plethora of global issues including the crisis in Syria, the Palestinian issue, the situation in Myanmar and Sri Lanka, the refugee and migrant movements.
He thanked China for expressing concern regarding “Indian atrocities” in occupied Kashmir. Home minister Rajnath Singh pointed a finger at Pakistan for its “continued and direct support” to terror groups and Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
