Don King Uses N-Word While Introducing Donald Trump
Mr King joined the campaign trail for Mr Trump alongside running-mate Mike Pence this week as part of the Republican presidential candidate’s attempt to woo black voters.
King, who was pardoned by the governor of OH in 1983 for his manslaughter conviction, gave the remarks Wednesday at an event hosted by Pastor Darrell Scott, the CEO of Trump’s diversity coalition. Wearing a bedazzled jean jacket that featured his own face and an American flag tie, King at one point used the N-word as he shared advice he had given Michael Jackson about being black – “do not alienate because you can not assimilate”.
“If you are a talented intellectual, you are an intellectual Negro. So you know, you’re going to be a Negro until you die”, said King. “If you are a dancing and sliding and gliding [N-word], I mean negro, you’re a dancing and sliding and gliding negro”, King said.
The boxing promoter then said, “So dare not alienate because you can not assimilate, so you are going to be a Negro ’til you die”.
The use of the racial epithet led to awkward laughter from Trump and other audience members.
Shortly after taking the stage, Trump said, “There’s only one Don King”. “I don’t think they want Trump to win”.
“You can’t use short-term slogans because people don’t understand and they twist them around”, he said on the floor of the Republican National Convention. “I appreciate the gesture, but if it isn’t a gesture from the heart, then keep that street”, King said.
King’s support of Trump is a bit of a surprise – because he’s been a big fan of Hillary Clinton. “African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP”. Now, peep the smile on Trump’s face… Crutcher was an unarmed African American who had his hands up.
“What I said is that with Trump calling all these people out, he (is showing he) can’t be bought, he can’t be controlled, the party can’t control him, he works for the will of the people”.
But he is questioning the actions of the police officer who shot and killed Terence Crutcher, who was unarmed when he was shot alongside his vehicle in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He went on to ask: “Did she get scared? He took two people, black, and put them in charge of 300 million people for their security”, he told New York Magazine.
