Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain
Around the back, Mercedes-Benz said it has a three-part rear bumper.
Mercedes-Benz Thailand could sell the E-class All Terrain for the kicks when right-hand-drive cars are available next year.
Like its direct rivals in the Audi A6 allroad ($112,665) and Volvo’s upcoming V90 Cross Country, the E-Class All-Terrain comes with a higher ride height and body cladding, but it also gets its own specific off-road software program and will come only with all-wheel drive and air suspension. The standard air suspension and larger wheels means the All-Terrain rides 1.1 inches higher than the regular E-Class Wagon.
The E220d uses Mercedes’ new 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel, in this application developing 191bhp at 3800rpm and 295lb ft of torque between 1600-2800rpm. And unspecified six-cylinder diesel has been confirmed by Mercedes at a later stage.
What do you think of the Mercedes E-Class All-Terrain? The new model combines a striking look in SUV style with the intelligent space concept of the estate.
“This is coupled with lots of innovative safety features and the multi-award-winning E-Class interior”.
Currently, the only available powertrain for the E-Class All Terrain is the 220 d 4MATIC. The motor will be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and is powerful enough to propel this big wagon crossover from 0 to 100 km/h in a little over 8-seconds before hitting a top speed of 232 km/h.
Both engines will be hooked up to the same 9-speed gearbox, which helps to keep Carbon dioxide emissions down to just 137 g/km on the combined cycle.
Mercedes have announced an off road version of their E Class Estate, the Mercedes Benz E Class All Terrain Estate.
Ground clearance rises 35mm to 156mm at the highest of three adjustable suspension settings – also called “All-Terrain” having been pinched from the GLE SUV and added to the multi-mode Dynamic Select system.
The suspension raises by 20mm in the All-Terrain mode, but only up to a speed of 21mph.
The car’s electronic aids are adjusted to suit off-road driving, and an information panel on the dash shows steering angle, vehicle level, slope and incline angle, where the throttle and brake are positioned and a compass.
Up front, the auto gets large twin chrome slats on the honeycomb pattern grille with Mercedes’ three-pointed-star at the centre. The distinctive front bumper and lower panelling, electroplated in silver-chrome, also contribute to the robust appearance.
