Bill Clinton delivers emotional defense of charitable work

“We started CGI to create a new kind of community built around the new realities of our modern world, where problem-solving requires the active partnership of government, business, and civil society”, former President Bill Clinton said in an open letter on the foundation’s website.

“It was natural for people who’ve been our political allies and personal friends to call and ask for things”. The decision to sunset the the high-profile, big-money initiative came as no surprise-but it has reportedly fomented controversy within the Clinton Foundation itself.

Former President Bill Clinton insists there’s “nothing to” accusations that his daughter Chelsea Clinton’s plans to stay on the board of the Clinton Foundation would allow her to act as a “conduit” to her mother, Hillary Clinton, if she’s elected in November. He told staffers earlier this year that leaving the foundation would be as painful as a “root canal” and told NPR earlier this week that he would have “paid more to do this job”.

“You’re stepping down from the [board of] the Foundation though”, CNBC said.

The Clinton Foundation is defended as a highly-rated global charity that has provided affordable medicine, healthy food and economic opportunity to millions of people around the world. But as the Times editorial states, it also has become a vehicle for suspicions about backroom dealing and currying favor – feeding and reinforcing a narrative about the Clintons that has long dogged Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign.

The Clintons have come under constant fire in recent months amid continuing questions regarding conflicts of interest between the Foundation and the Clinton State Department..

While some who have been associated with the foundation were reportedly disappointed with how the layoffs are being handled, others indicated that retaining any CGI staff was a “bad idea”, with one former official saying, “I really think they should make a clean break, and apparently so do most staff”.

But Bill Clinton today shied away from engaging in the politics surrounding his foundation and instead used his platform as an attempt to change the negative narrative that has been seen as a liability to his wife’s presidential bid. What was not revealed was any proof of favors being performed or decisions being made against standing USA policy.

Bill Clinton is fudging it with the “hundreds of thousands donors”.

“It’s just a more negative environment”, Clinton said. Bill Clinton is best positioned to take up that defense.

“Well, we all know people”, Clinton said.

“I wonder if there’s a man in America that could have taken what she’s been through in the past year and a half”, Clinton said of his wife.

Kirby said on Fox News that he was aware of the story in question but was unaware of the list of people.

But he added, that will only happen if Hillary Clinton is elected.
