Watch Lin-Manuel Miranda sing Donald Trump’s tweets
If you haven’t seen “Hamilton”, it might just be the next best thing. Now’s your chance (well, kind of).
PBS’ Hamilton’s America documentary premieres next month, and it may be the closest some people get to seeing (at least in snippets) the multiple Tony Award-winning Hamilton given its sold-out and in-demand status. Wait for it, wait.
Shot on a double-decker bus in New York City, Miranda then went on to sing a few of Donald Trump’s greatest holiday hits, with song categories such as “Backhanded Holiday Greetings”, “Racially Questionable Holiday Greetings” and “More Backhanded Holiday Greetings”, all of which sound like the worst Hallmark cards section imaginable.
Hamilton’s America will air on PBS on Friday Oct. 21 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
To coincide with GQ’s new cover story, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda put his musical genius to work to give the loudest political visionary of our time his very own musical.
“I have not changed a word of these, only added melody”, Miranda explained in the video.
As shown in the preview, Hamilton’s America tells the story of one of the most celebrated musicals of the modern age through footage of performances and various interviews, including with Miranda, President Barack Obama, Nas, Questlove, renowned musical composer Stephen Sondheim, George W. Bush, and Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon.
Hamilton’s America is scheduled to premiere on PBS at 9 p.m. October 21.
