Someone has created a hot dog and burger combo called the Hamdog
An Australian man has started sales of the “hamdog” – a cross between a hamburger and a hot dog – in New South Wales, and plans to go national with the quirky-looking creation.
The pitch comes after he successfully secured a United States patent for the cross between the “hamburger hot dog bread bun” in 2009.
There is already an American “Hamdog,” although it’s quite different than its Australian cousin.
Conceived in 2004, the $8 Hamdog consists of a Bunbury beef patty cut in half, with a Hunsa frankfurt inserted in the middle. It’s then covered with chili, french fries, and a fried egg.
However, he didn’t let the disappointment stop him from bringing the Hamdog to life.
The audacity! But one year after his Shark Tank debut, Murray is now selling the Hamdog at fairs and markets in Australia.
Speaking to News Corp Australia, Murray explains it wasn’t all love throughout the process; there were plenty of haters.
Craving a hamburger or hot dog?
He’s now selling the “party in your mouth” treat at festivals through Perth, and contracts a Perth baker to form the buns by hand, using custom-made moulds.
Mark is hoping funding will help create a franchise and enable hi to buy machines to make the buns on a mass scale. For just $10,000 you anyone can become a “reseller”. We’re still developing a way to semi automate production’.
The Hamdog marquee will appear at events such as local markets, shows, races in Perth.
