Ford GT race vehicle hits the track
There, the Ford GT will return to the famed French racing circuit. The new GT will make its debut in 2016, 50 years after the Ford GT40 finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd at Le Mans in 1966.
Ford of Britain boss Andy Barratt said “I’m fighting very hard for the allocation because when we produced the last GT, 101 came to Europe and only 28 officially came to the UK”. In the meantime, enjoy Ford’s video of the auto in action.
Ford has released a new video of the GT race auto being tested before its official unveiling at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Attending was by Raj Nair, Ford group vice president and chief technical officer, Ford Global Product Development, and Dave Pericak, director, Ford Performance.
Ford’s up in Canada testing its new track weapon, and the sound its as producing is quite entertaining.
All four will compete under the Chip Ganassi Racing banner. Two will compete in the full FIA World Endurance Championship series and will be based in the United Kingdom. Unheard of. We have some secrets. We haven’t declared the absolute run for this GT, but the numbers are going to be a lot lower than the 2005 vehicle.
Expect to see the GT debut at the 24 hours of Daytona in January 2016.
