Rookie Brissett, Blount lead Patriots past Texans 27-0

The Patriots embarrassed the Houston Texans 27-0 with rookie Jacoby Brissett at quarterback.

After all, with Tom Brady suspended and Jimmy Garoppolo injured, the Patriots didn’t have any other quarterbacks on the roster to call upon if the 23-year-old rookie got hurt.

The first touchdown of the evening for the Patriots came on a 27-yard Brissett run that was a thing of beauty. LeGarrette Blount scored from a yard out and then broke a 41-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

The victory for Patriots coach Bill Belichick was the 226th of his career, tying him with former Green Bay Packers coach Earl “Curly” Lambeau for fourth place on the all-time wins list.
