Viral photos show father dragging girl by hair through Texas Walmart
“Me and Robert are in Walmart in Cleveland Texas getting lunchables for our babies for school”.
“I saw this little girl slouched over and her dad was gripping her hair on the cart while he shopped”, Burch told The Huffington Post Wednesday by phone. She said the man told her to mind her own business.
Burch said she confronted the father after hearing the little girl say, “Please stop”.
Witnesses told WKPRC Channel 2 in Houston that the girl kept wandering off in the store, and the father grabbed her hair and kept her close to discipline her.
Outraged by the response, Mrs Burch posted the photos on Facebook and urged people to share them and contact Cleveland police.
Clint Davis is a reporter for the Scripps National News Desk.
“She [was] begging him to stop! I want her to know that people do care about her”.
Burch is earning a fair amount of support but also some criticism for getting involved, but she stands by her decision.
A Walmart employee then joined the argument and the man eventually let the little girl go. “Right now, this little girl is my business and you need to let her hair go now!” she reported saying. I feel disgusting for that poor baby girl.
The photos have been shared 133,000 times and her original Facebook post has over 4,660 comments. They are checking to see if there are other children in the home and if the man in the photo has a “pattern of behavior”.
Cleveland Police Chief Darrel Broussard, said the man told police his three children, including the five year old girl, had been disruptive in the store, and holding her by the hair was his method of disciplining her. “Please stop!” Burch said the 5-year-old said, according to the station. “The child probably needed some discipline and he made his choice”.
Eventually, the local police chimed in, but according to WTOV9, no charges have been filed.
