Margot Robbie to host Saturday Night Live season premiere
Unless you’re Margot Robbie (in which case: congrats!), that position has been filled.
This season of SNL will be an interesting one to watch.
This will be Robbies first time hosting the show, and The Weeknds second time performing on the show.
Earlier this month, we reported that Saturday Night Live was asking viewers who they wanted to host the season opener.
– “Saturday Night Live” has finally announced the first host of its season 42, after asking fans on Twitter for suggestions about who should host the show this coming season. Just recently we found out the three new names who will be joining the cast following the surprising exits of Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam (and the not-so-surprising exit of featured player Jon Rudnitsky).
Meanwhile, two-time Grammy Award victor and Oscar nominee The Weeknd has an upcoming album called Starboy, that is scheduled to be released November 25.
This will mark The Weeknd’s third appearance on the show following previous stints as the musical guest in 2014 and 2015.
SNL’s 42nd season premiere will also be the first episode with improv performer Alex Moffat, America’s Got Talent finalist Melissa Villaseñor, and Mikey Day.
Robbie received much-deserved praise for her portrayal of Harley Quinn in the David Ayer-directed Suicide Squad, and before that she delivered a fantastic performance in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. Leslie Jones and Pete Davidson will be joining the main cast.
