West Ham want London Stadium police presence after crowd trouble
West Ham is projected to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Watford as they prevail over West Brom in this match.
The Hammers were two goals up heading towards half-time on Saturday but conspired to throw their advantage away as they eventually lost 4-2 to the Hornets in the second Premier League game at the London Stadium.
Mazzarri claimed his first win as Watford manager on Saturday, his men coming from two goals down to claim a remarkable victory, with Odion Ighalo, Troy Deeney, Etienne Capoue and Jose Holebas getting on the scoresheet.
An unspecified number of fans were ejected from the London Stadium after fights broke out in the closing stages of the game, although the Met Police have stated there were no arrests.
There were also reports of trouble between home fans and stewards as West Ham condemned the behaviour of those involved and promptly ordered a full review of the “isolated” incidents.
Frustrations appeared to spill over as the incidents took place, and West Ham were quick to stress a zero tolerance approach to crowd violence and said they would not hesitate to ban perpetrators.
“We are now undertaking an immediate full review with all stakeholders”, the club said.
Slaven Bilic denied West Ham became complacent after building their comfortable two-goal lead, but admitted their defensive frailties must be addressed quickly. “We will work with the police and other stakeholders to identify the individuals involved”.
The early joy of West Ham’s openers dissipated and fans began to clash mid-way through the second half.
“Every big club is suffering if their best player is not playing”, Bilic said.
