Baltimore Police: 3 gunmen shoot, wound 8 in attack
Dan Fesperman, a former reporter for The Baltimore Sun, said he was headed west on Ruxton Road and was preparing to turn left onto Falls Road when he noticed police cars ahead of him and one officer standing on the street, shouting.
Armacost tweeted that the men had earlier robbed a bank about four miles away in Pikesville. John Wachter says the man who died was the driver of a vehicle that police had stopped while searching for robbery suspects.
Only the driver was struck.
The surviving suspect – allegedly wanted for multiple bank robberies – sustained injuries that authorities said were not believed to be life-threatening. At some point after the shooting, one of the cars struck another auto.
Mr Davis said it was a premeditated act of retaliatory violence in response to a Labour Day weekend shooting in which a person was shot dead and two others wounded, including a pregnant woman.
Neither man’s identity was immediately released.

No weapons were recovered from the vehicle or were found at the scene, authorities said.
The shooting comes days after the death of Tawon Boyd, who died several days after a fight with officers in Middle River, and the decision by prosecutors not to press charges in the death of Korryn Gaines. Police and prosecutors said Gaines pointed a shotgun at officers last month during a standoff at her apartment.
