Carlson’s 6 field goals lift Auburn past No. 18 LSU 18-13
LSU and Auburn played a gross, ugly football game on Saturday night. Then it was business as usual with six field goals by Daniel Carlson.
An illegal shift penalty against LSU (2-2, 1-1) left the Tigers with a fourth-down play from the 15. LSU had one last chance from the 15-yard line and a scrambling Danny Etling hit D.J. Chark in the corner of the end zone for an apparent game winning score. Leonard Fournette will be the best player on the field, but LSU must be able to do a few things in the air and not be one-dimensional.
LSU did not get the play off in time as the game clock hit zero before the snap. However odd it may have been, Malzahn and Auburn finally have a win over a big-name opponent at Jordan-Hare Stadium to relieve some of the pressure. The Tigers were in the other two, but lost. They’re now 2-2 and 1-1 in conference.
No. 10 Texas A&M 45, No. 17 Arkansas 24 • Trevor Knight had two long touchdowns before halftime and threw a 92-yard pass to Josh Reynolds right after visiting Arkansas was stopped three times from the 1, and Texas A&M beat the Razorbacks. McElwain said. … “That’s really good trivia”.
But time had already run out on the Tigers in “The Clock” game Saturday night at Auburn. “There were a lot of ups and downs”. Two teams, same division, same mascot, both coaches on the hot seat – real original, guys. In a matter of seconds, the victory thought to be LSU’s was given to Auburn.
That’s Ashley Ward, a member of the photo and video team for Auburn, attempting – and failing, painfully – to catch a kickoff. It truly was a gritty win by Malzahn’s squad, and just because it wasn’t a masterpiece doesn’t mean it counts any less in the record books. The Tigers have yet to score more than 23 points in any of their three games against FBS opponents this season, and they have been especially limited in the passing game. He got killed. But he keeps getting up, he keeps battling and he keeps leading the team.
Missouri Coach Barry Odom said linebacker Terez Hall and cornerback Logan Cheadle practiced with limitations Tuesday, and he labeled them both as “probable” to play in the Tigers’ 3 p.m. Saturday game against Delaware State.
Close wasn’t good enough for LSU’s administration as they fired both Miles and his offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. Auburn settled for six field goals, got stuffed on third and fourth down at the goal line at the end of the first half and still lacks offensive cohesion.
LSU’s Colby Delahoussaye kicked a 29-yard field goal with 5:36 left in the third quarter to pull the Tigers within 12-10.
So Clark’s wave to the Auburn fans to conclude LSU’s premature on-field celebration will only add to the Bengal Tigers’ hurt and disappointment, but they have no one to blame but themselves. After almost blowing a lead but winning against Mississippi State, LSU has now lost a game to Auburn in which it did not allow a touchdown and mishandled the clock down the stretch.
“He’s a huge weapon. He was in the game on the final play of the game”.
Fournette still got 101 yards on 16 carries but had one or two game-breaking runs that seemed to steal the momentum from the Auburn defense past year. LSU had been on the 2 after an 8-yard pass from Etling to Travin Dural, but the flag overruled the play. The teams were tied five times after the media timeout. “I think we as a team can play better”.
