Browns beaten up by injuries, then beaten by Dolphins in OT
Beaten down by injuries and beaten again on the field, despite a statistically most-unique effort from Terrelle Pryor, the Browns are 0-3 after a 30-24 overtime loss against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
“Tough one, I thought our guys fought extremely hard and we had our chances”, Browns head coach Hue Jackson said.
Tannehill threw for 319 yards and three scores, but none of Miami’s four running backs was able to spark a ground game that has been terrible so far this year. Tannehill threw a bad interception to former Dolphin Jamar Taylor, who read it the whole way and jumped a slant route.
As the Cleveland Browns take on the Miami Dolphins this Sunday, many are wondering what to watch for on the field. Six years into the Tannehill experiment in South Florida, Miami can’t count on consistency from its offensive leader from play to play, never mind game to game. Jason Jones recovered the fumble.
“I know everybody will say it came down to the field goals, but I’m not going to put that kind of pressure on Cody”, Jackson said. “It irritated me a little bit”.
In his National Football League regular-season debut, Kessler completed 8-of-11 passes for 76 yards with a 91.5 passer rating. “We played against a third string quarterback last week”. “Whether he’s playing quarterback or wide receiver, he’s obviously effective”.
“I think he’s the best pass rusher I’ve played against”, Pasztor said.
Then the Dolphins assembled a five-play, 61-yard scoring drive with Tannehill and wide receiver DeVante Parker connecting in the end zone for a 26-yard touchdown over Boddy-Calhoun.
Ajayi’s score was set up one play earlier when quarterback Ryan Tannehill found Jarvis Landry for a 32-yard pass play to the 11.
Cody Kessler, the Browns’ third starting QB this season, went 21 for 33 passes for 244 yards.
According to ESPN Stats and Info, Pryor is the first player since the AFL-NFL merger to have at least three passing attempts, three rushing attempts, and three receptions in a single game.
“What Terrelle did was awesome”, Kessler said. We talked during the week and he said ‘I’m here to help you.
After high school, Parkey went on to play at Auburn, where he ranks sixth in school history with 39 made field goals.
After exchanging punts in overtime, Miami took over at the Cleveland 44.
It’s how Kessler will respond in the moment, and how those players respond around him, that will determine how well Cleveland can play in the face of adversity. “It’s similar to Cleveland; a lot blue collared people that just work hard. When you see the results the way you want them to be, you get excited about that”. It took four plays for Miami to drive down and get the go-ahead touchdown.
