India vs Pakistan at the UN General Assembly. Who said what
Swarup said India has asked Pakistan national finger print database to match fingerprints of Pak terrorists involved in the Uri attack, which Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is denying.
“We are constantly opposed to all forms of terrorism, maintaining that terrorist threats be addressed through enhanced worldwide cooperation in order to safeguard the human society”. “This is self-incrimination by the Pakistan Prime Minister”.
The Congress leader’s remarks came after Sharif in his speech at UNGA on Wednesday termed Hizbul militant Burhan Wani, whose killing on July 8 sparked off the current unrest in the Kashmir valley, as a “young leader” and the symbol of the Kashmiri unrest.
During his almost 20-minute speech on Wednesday, Sharif described the unrest in Kashmir as an “indigenous uprising” and an “intifada” (uprising) and accused India of “brutal suppression” and “gross and systematic violations of human rights”. “The worst violation of human rights is terrorism”.
She added that the country carried out “war crimes” through its “long-standing policy” of sponsoring terrorism.
India sees Pakistan as “a terrorist state”, she said, accusing Pakistan of diverting global aid towards training, financing and supporting terror groups as “militant proxies” against neighbouring countries.
India today said it hopes that the bill to designate Pakistan as a terrorist state by two United States lawmakers will be treated with utmost seriousness.
“We will not allow externally sponsored terrorism and threats of destabilisation to cause turbulence in Pakistan”, said Nawaz in a veiled reference to the reported Indian and Afghan covert actions in Pakistan.
Referring to Pakistan as global epi-center of terrorism, she adds, “terrorist entities and their leaders, designated by United Nations, continue to freely roam with state support”.
Pakistan won’t limit its nuclear programme, its United Nations envoy Maleeha Lodhi said yesterday, a day after Washington urged Islamabad to curtail its atomic activities. He added that Delhi would never succumb to Islamabad’s “tactics and blackmail” and ridiculed Sharif for talking about peace while holding a gun.
India emphasised that Pakistan had made false promises on combating terrorism over and over again, to it.
To a question on airspace restrictions over northern part of the country, he said that Pakistan Air Force was carrying out routine exercises which are not linked to the prevailing security situation. He also said Pakistan will continue to support voices in Kashmir for self-determination.
