Modi Warns Pakistan, Says Uri Attack Will Not Be Forgotten
18 soldiers were killed when Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists attacked a highly-guarded army camp in Uri in Kashmir on Sunday morning. “We have no intention of starting one and India also realises that a war at this stage will destroy its economy”, said one diplomat.
Sartaj Aziz said it is not for the first time that India has levelled baseless allegations on Pakistan. Recounting Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s provocative remark that Pakistan was capable of fighting India for a thousand years, Modi declared, “Main aapki chunauti sweekaar karta hun (I accept your challenge)”.
“This is the only country that is exporting terrorism in all corners”, Modi said, without directly naming Pakistan, in his first public comments since the attack.
However, he mellowed down the rhetoric, saying both countries should “fight the war”, but against poverty, unemployment and illiteracy – and “let’s see who wins”.
The Prime Minister said, Pakistan’s leadership cannot take care of PoK, Balochistan, Gilgit and Pakhtunistan and could not retain East Pakistan, which is Bangaldesh now. “That day is not far when people of Pakistan will wage a war against their own leaders”, Modi said.
The Prime Minister said he could see a lot of potential to make sure that the 21st century becomes Asia’s 21st century, adding that all countries in Asia are working for it, except one.
“There would have been a bloodbath had they succeeded in carrying out attacks in India”, Modi said. He said that before accusing Pakistan, India should have looked at its atrocious role in Jammu and Kashmir and mentioned the brutalities being perpetrated against the innocent Kashmiris by the Indian forces in the disputed state.
“There is a government in Delhi which will not allow the sacrifice of our men to go in vain”, the Prime Minister said.
“Our longstanding position is that we believe India and Pakistan stand to benefit from the normalisation of relations and practical cooperation”.
“No matter how much hue and cry we make to isolate Pakistan after the Uri attack on the global forum, the truth remains that all these efforts are useless”.
#2. Wherever terrorism is happening across Asia, the affected nations are blaming only 1 nation. There are many opportunities for people like us and political leaders to speak but the Army don’t talk.
Stating that he has full faith in the Indian soldiers, the PM said: “Through their valour, the army will foil every such conspiracy of the militants”.
Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said in a tweet, .Even Modi’s supporters disappointed with his speech, social media users said, sowed Modi, reaped Manmohan.
