Clinton tears into Trump on taxes
Democrats have pointed out that Trump’s fiduciary duty could only exist in his businesses’ taxes – not his personal taxes.
The office of Attorney General Eric Schneiderman told the Donald J. Trump foundation last Friday that it must “cease and desist from soliciting contributions” in NY. He later reportedly said that the comments were not meant to indicate that he had not paid federal taxes. Mr. Trump hides behind the excuse that his returns are under audit. For example, the New Jersey state return shown by the New York Times on their site does not reflect the negative $909 million amount at all.
Boris Epshteyn, a senior adviser for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, suggested that New York Times reporters should face jail time for reporting on the billionaire’s tax returns. Trump explained that he knew how to fight the system “because that’s what you had to do”.
After a weekend of the Clinton campaign hammering Trump for writing off capital losses to avoid heavy taxes in 1995, it appears Clinton did the same thing as recently as previous year.
The Times reported Saturday that Trump posted a net loss of $915,729,293 in federal taxable income in 1995.
The Times reported there was no indication Trump had violated the law.
“I face enormous taxes – city, state, sales, excise, employee, federal, VAT, different countries”, Trump said in Pueblo.
The New York Times based its analysis on the first page only of three state tax returns – New York State, where Trump lives, CT and New Jersey. “Which I never did, by the way”, Trump said. Those numbers are slightly misaligned on the documents. The Trump campaign, rather than denying the report, threatened to sue the Times for publishing the information. “Voters can also learn about a candidate’s charitable giving, which is usually closely scrutinized”, Scott said, cautioning that tax returns, however, can paint an incomplete picture of a filer’s financial dealings, particularly when it comes to a real estate mogul like Trump. Since a rocky debate last week, Trump has engaged in a distracting feud with a former beauty queen he called “Miss Piggy” because she gained weight during her reign.
In 1998, Broadcast.com, a company that Cuban was both President and Chairman of the Board of at the time, claimed loss carryforwards of more than $10 million for 1997. Several cast members said Trump had one female contestant twirl before him so he could ogle her figure. He seemed to try to shift the conversation on Saturday night when he suggested, without evidence, that Mrs Clinton may have cheated on her husband, former United States president Bill Clinton. Meanwhile, the public still has had only a glimpse of the GOP nominee’s tax history.
A few dozen volunteers had made almost 10,000 calls by the time Trump visited and saluted their efforts.
Trump appears to have broken no tax laws, but the system is badly rigged if he can gamble, lose and claim success.
Trump also showed he is increasingly aware and focused on early voting.
Trump presses the fleshes, signs autographs in Waterbury. More recently, Trump has faced tough questions about how his namesake foundation operates.
Trump was quoted as speculating which contestant would be a “tiger in bed”, while others said he rated contestants by their breast size.
Trump made the reference Monday as he discussed his commitment to improving mental health services for veterans at an event held by the Retired American Warriors political action committee.
