Bills’ offense confident after shutout win over Patriots
In that game, Bledsoe had to battle heavy rain and 68mph wind in a 6-0 loss against the Jets, completing 10-of-18 for 134 yards and an interception.
Any number of football fans who saw the score on TV had to think the graphic had it backwards.
The Bills certainly showed some fight in them an hour before the game. Not the other way around. Taylor, finishing the game with a passer rating of 94.6 looked notably more comfortable today spreading out the ball to all of his options connecting with eight different receivers. Last season, the Bills failed to record more than two sacks in one game. That happened to extent Sunday, which was Taylor’s first win with Buffalo having thrown 30 or more passes.
The Patriots players on offense had to give the Bills credit.
Both rejoined the team Monday after serving four-game suspensions – Brady for “Deflategate” and Ninkovich for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
“What a shock!'” Ryan, who on Sunday mentioned longtime Patriots quarterback Steve Grogan as New England’s potential starter this week, reached deeper into Patriots history for another option Wednesday.
“Just didn’t play well”, Brissett said.
Buffalo took advantage of sloppy, Tom Brady-less New England to hand the Patriots their first home shutout at Gillette Stadium, winning 16-0 Sunday. How’s that? I will stir some stuff up.
While Brissett would play the entire game under center, it was a miserable day for the New England offense, failing to get on the board.
Gostkowski missed a 48-yard field goal attempt in the third quarter.
The result was the Patriots being shut out at home for the first time in 23 years. Win one of those two close ones at the start of the season, and a 2-2 mark suddenly puts you within hailing distance of the Patriots. A lot of third-down problems are related to first and second-down and it wasn’t good enough on third-down. “I mean, that’s nothing”.
FIRST CATCH: TE Rob Gronkowski, who played sparingly in his season debut last week, caught his first pass of the season, an 11-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
And for the past two games, at least, Ryan’s crew has proven, rather emphatically, it can hang with them.
“Obviously we didn’t do much of anything well enough to win today”, he said.
“We know what type of player he’s been for this team”.
OF COURSE, it was the defense that pitched a shutout.
The Raiders (3-1) have already won three games on the road.
Something else to take from this game was the efficiency of the Bills passing game.Teams trying to make Tyrod Taylor “play quarterback” had been something of a theme through the September portion of the schedule. We all know that.
“We’ll see how everything goes tomorrow at practice and kind of just build one day at a time as we go through the week”.
The Bills also hurt the Pats by being up 13-0 at intermission. Bills RB Reggie Bush was inactive for the first time.
Once again playing the role of underdog the Buffalo Bills came into Foxborough at 1-2 to face off agaisnt the Tom Brady-less Patriots.
“That’s something you stress during the week”, he said.
“(The win) was huge”, Graham said. It was a big game for us, a division game, like a ‘must win’.
